One of the most popular goals for females is “I want to get tone!


Well what does it mean to get tone?


Being tone is being able to see some muscle beneath the layer of subcutaneous fat underneath the skin.  So really being tone, is have a leaner body composition or a health muscle to body fat ratio.  There are some things you can do to help you appear more tone! 


Here are 10 tips to keep in mind while working towards your Tone body!


  1. Lift weights

Weight lifting helps to shape the muscle underneath the skin. It helps lift and shape the body fat and skin, creating the tone and youthful look we all aim for!

  1. Drink Water

Staying hydrated is so important to have youthful looking skin and muscle tone! A hydrated muscle is plump, helping to lift skin, and push out any cellulite.

  1. Stretch

Along with lifting weights you also want to stretch to help elongate the muscle

  1. Rest

Lifting and resting go hand and hand!  You need to rest your muscles to recover and fill out.  If not you will continue to wear out the muscle and instead of looking tone you will look soft.

  1. Eat enough protein

Protein is the muscle prime recovery food.  The protein helps rebuild and create the tone muscle you are aiming for.  Without enough protein your muscle will not have the building blocks it needs to grow into the tone shape you desire.

  1. Eat in a calorie maintenance.

If you do not want to lose much weight but want to slowly change the composition of your body to be slightly lower fat but more muscle, then you need to eat plenty of protein and eat at your body’s calorie maintenance.

  1. Eat in a calorie deficit

If you want to lose a good amount of body fat, while maintaining muscle, then you need to eat in a calorie deficit while still prioritizing protein to make sure your body does not burn away your muscle for energy, but focusing on fat burning. 

  1. Get enough sleep

Sleep helps the muscle recover, drives nutrients to the muscle, decreases inflammation and over all will help you look your best!  Sleep is crucial with any body composition goals!

  1. Do not be afraid of carbs

Carbs are your friend!  They help give energy to the muscle so that you can lift weights and make progress!  If not you risk feeling sluggish and unmotivated.
